Delta Gems (girls ages 14-18)

The Dr. Jeanne L. Noble Delta GEMS was created to catch the dreams of African American at-risk, adolescent girls aged 14-18. Delta GEMS provides the framework to actualize those dreams through the performance of specific tasks that develop a CAN DO attitude. The goals for Delta GEMS are - To instill the need to excel academically; To provide tools that enable girls to sharpen and enhance their skills to achieve high levels of academic success; To assist girls in proper goal setting and planning for their futures in high school and beyond; and To create compassionate, caring, and community-minded young women by actively involving them in service learning and community service opportunities.

Toy Library (boys and girls ages 5 to 11)

The Toy Library Program began in 1978 and started as a Toy and Book Lending Library for children, and blossomed into the educational program that it is today. This program is a signature community service project of the Quaker City Alumnae Chapter. The Toy Library children participate in educational sessions that teach such things as reading (Reading Buddies), playing fair, arts, anti-bullying, community service, and the importance of being a good person. The children are taken on field trips, showing them things they might otherwise not experience, such as trips to museums, plays, farms, and nature centers. The Toy Library has provided 40 years of continuous service to the children of the City of Philadelphia. This program is for boys and girls ages 5 to 11.

Delta Academy (girls ages 11 to 14)

The Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy provides an opportunity to enrich and enhance the education that our young teens receive in public schools across the nation. Specifically, we augment their scholarship in math, science, and technology, their opportunities to provide service in the form of leadership through service learning defined as the cultivation and maintenance of relationships. This program is for girls ages 11 to 14.

Delta Scholarships

Scholarship Application

Each year the Quaker City Alumnae Chapter provides scholarships to graduating high school seniors who live or go to school in Philadelphia. Along with providing scholarships, the Scholarship Committee hosts workshops on various post-secondary topics.

The scholarship application deadline is March 1st, 2024.
