SUMMARY:5th Annual Put Them Jawns Down
DESCRIPTION:For the fifth year in a row\, the Quaker City Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority\, Inc. is proud to lead a citywide call to action through our annual “Put Them Jawns Down” Gun Violence + Voter + Mental Health Awareness Campaign. \nPut Them Jawns Down” is a week-long campaign dedicated to awareness\, prevention\, and civic engagement. The initiative will actively engage the public through a dynamic online campaign across all Quaker City Alumnae Chapter social media platforms\, while also providing opportunities for the community to gather\, learn\, and organize through in-person programming. \n\nThis Year’s Campaign Includes: \nWeek-Long Gun Violence + Mental Health + Voter Awareness Social Media Campaign (all QCA platforms) \nFeaturing resources\, community voices\, prevention strategies\, and voter education shared across all QCA social media platforms. \n“Put Them Jawns Down” Gun Violence + Mental Health + Voter Awareness Summit \nTeen Rec Activation Edition \n The Alan Horwitz Sixth Man Center \n Wednesday\, May 13\, 2026 \n5:00pm – 8:30pm \n4250 Wissahickon Avenue \nPhiladelphia\, PA 19129 \nThis powerful one-night\, youth-centered summit hosted in partnership with Philadelphia Youth Basketball during Teen Rec Night integrates: \n\nGun Violence + Civic + Mental Health awareness and education\nPanel discussion\nBreakout sessions + Activities + Music + Fun + Basketball\nYouth and adult leadership development on and off the court\n\nRooted in the African philosophy of Ubuntu (“I am because we are”)\, this activation connects personal responsibility\, community safety\, and civic participation. \nWe will bring together youth\, community leaders\, elected officials\, advocates\, and residents to discuss solutions\, share resources\, and highlight the importance of civic engagement and voting as tools for community change. \nAnd most importantly WE ARE PLAYING BASKETBALL. \nBecause engagement\, trust\, and impact start where our young people feel seen\, safe\, and supported. \n\nREGISTER HERE \n\n“Put Them Jawns Down” Community Day + Resource Fair \n Tustin Recreation Center \n Saturday\, May 16\, 2026 \n 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM \n5901 W.
